Wilkinson shot to prominence in the summer of 2016, when he achieved a time of 3:48 over 1500m. Early injuries in his career restricted his development; however the Yorkshire-born man has put those disappointments firmly behind him. 2017 saw him win the Lincoln 10k in an impressive time of 30:23 along with a creditable 15th place finish at the Intercounties XC. Illness curtailed his 2017 track season, but not before the Lincoln-based athlete lowered his 1500m PB to 3:47 and his 3000m PB to 8:11. A 3-year stint at Loughborough awaits the talented Joe, where he will no doubt hope to add more silverware to his overcrowded trophy cabinet.
